Who must take this Program?

For a job seeker, attending an interview requires a good amount of self-confidence, panache, interpersonal skills, and communication competency. The way in which you present yourself during an interview gives hiring managers the first impression of you as a potential staffer, and this sets the tone of how you would perform in an everyday capacity. Knowing what to say, how to say and most importantly what not to say are essential traits that one must learn.

What do you mean by Interview Skills?

Interview skills are an essential tool for all students in today's world of employment as there is increasing competition for job vacancies. Where everyone is good as far as knowledge is concerned…how will you get an upper edge? If you wish to outshine the other candidates, you must have something special in you. The interviewer will hire the one who has a desirable personality.

Why are interview skills important?

Here we want you to understand the importance of mock interviews, learning tricks of the trade and Preparing the right skills and attitude.

Mock interviews or practicing interview skills is when you set up an environment and scenario that resembles a typical interview. You prepare yourself with the right body language, the required professional etiquette and practice answering the tricky questions.

So basically, it is a SET UP where you perform just the way you would in an interview. This is done to ensure that your confidence levels are not bogged down by the stress and pressure of finding a job.

What are the advantages of practicing your interview skills?

Technology has reduced human interaction to quite an extent. The candidates nowadays hesitate in facing the interview panel and are restricted to technical knowledge only. Interview skills include Social Skills and Emotional intelligence – Two essential traits required for any job. Therefore, candidates must learn these skills and develop an attitude that can help them succeed at the time of the interview.

Why should you undergo guidance and training programs for interview preparation?

1

Help reduce stress and anxiety

By personal experience, I could say this, attending an interview is so stressful and makes you feel anxious. This happens because you need a job badly and you are not aware if you stand a chance. That’s when all the anxiety and pressure sets in.

But when you experience a mock interview with the help of your mentor, it makes you feel ready for the challenge and helps you overcome anxiety.

Help boost your confidence

This is interrelated to the previous point mentioned. So basically, when you learn to overcome your anxiety, you tend to gain confidence. When you gain confidence, you stand a chance to prove yourself as a desirable candidate. The mock interviews also provide the candidates with a wonderful opportunity to ‘test drive’ their answers.

3

Constructive Feedback

We all must agree that none of us are perfect for an interview. So training and mock interviews help us clarify responses to certain questions and help us work on areas that we are prone to be weak in.

In a real interview, it doesn’t always happen that you are given feedback on your performance, or in the journey through the interview.

To assess and find out more about your interviewing abilities it is always best to face mock interviews and make the D-day a perfect opportunity to perform your best.

Preparing for behavioral-based Interview Questions

Many firms and corporations use behavioral-based questions,

even role-plays, group discussions and activities.

So if some of us are not familiar with such interviews then

this is where mock interviews and Training come handy.

4

5

Practice makes perfect

This expression may very well be true when it comes to interviewing skills. One should master the art of taking advantage of a mock interview so as to make you near perfect when it comes to holding yourself together in an interview.

Even if you think your skill sets are at a very high level still, you should think upon it as characteristics that can all be improved when it comes to making a great impression on a prospective employer.

Nervousness

Many of us feel nervous and upset just before a scheduled interview. It is not surprising or secret that these events can be nerve-wracking. Even if you have had the experience of attending many interviews, it’s still something that all of us feel. So with practice and mock-ups, many have expressed that there has been a slight increase in their confidence.

6

7

Body Language

Interview skills training will help you prepare well in terms of body language and professional etiquette. Body language talks a lot about your overall personality and poor body language has resulted in rejection for many well-read candidates. All this adds to the positive points that you collect through the journey of your interview.

General Knowledge

Mockup interviews and training programs will help you learn about general knowledge required for the job and various interview questions.

You might find a lot of answers on Google and YouTube, but the answers have to be personalized and that can be done only by a mentor under whose guidance you attend the training program.

Examples of certain simple questions that need to have personalized and meaningful answers are:

  • Give an introduction to yourself.

  • Give examples of displaying leadership skills.

  • Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

  • What is more important for you - Money or job satisfaction?

  • Summarize your resume.

8

9

Familiarizing with the situation

Mockups aid in familiarizing yourself with the situation. That is, what is the intensity of your interview going to be? How much are you going to get grilled! What to expect on the D day. What will be the actual scenario…etc?

Feedback implementation

Once you have performed the mockup, the next step is to implement the feedback you have received. Make sure you learn to accept the feedback in a constructive manner so as to nail your interviews in a better way.

Here are a few things you need to remember while going through a mockup or trying to practice for better output:

  • Learning from experienced personnel is like getting feedback from a sports coach to learn how to improve your game. By doing so you learn where your strength lies and where you are weak.

  • Time spent wisely, will track you on the correct path and assist you greatly in all situations. In today’s world being in a composite form helps you take on the competitive challenges in top shape.

  • Finally, the interview match is one game that you definitely need to win. So make sure you prepare well.
